IAC Electricals (M) Sdn Bhd (IACEM) was established in 1995 to manufacture and supply transmission line hardware and fittings, as well as transmission line steel support structures to clients executing transmission line projects in Malaysia.

In line with the Malaysian Government's policy to promote indigenous products, IACEM offers local transmission line contractors a viable option to procure the components items locally, as opposed to importing of the same items. Initial production capacity was dedicated primarily to the local market, with a view to expand to other markets in the region.

The IACEM facility, which is the first and only combined manufacturing of its kind in the region, is located 200km north of Kuala Lumpur. It is centrally located from Port Klang and Penang Port, the 2 major shipping centers of Malaysia. Excellent road infrastructure via the North-South PLUS Highway ensures that our products are delivered on schedule. Since commencing production in 1997, IACEM has grown into a major supplier of its products in Malaysia.

The plant is located on an area measuring 250,000 sq. ft (approx. 5 acres). Of this, approximately 30,000 sq. ft. forms the built up area of the facility, with the balance area serving as the storage yard. The installed capacity of our plant is currently about 18,000 Metric Tons of Transmission Line Towers and about 1000km of Transmission Line Hardware per year.

Our products have been successfully installed on 500kV, 275kV, 132kV and 33kV transmission lines in Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah (East Malaysia), which are now fully operational. Besides this, we have also exported our towers and hardware fittings to countries such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Australia. Our hardware components have also found its way to the European market through leading insulator manufacturers.

As of August 2006, IACEM has supplied steell towers in excess of 35,000 MT for both local and overseas projects. Similarly, IACEM has already fittings hardware and accessories in excess of 4000km to date.
